M. Ismailova explained the content of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 2, 2019 No. ZRU-561 “On the protection of women from oppression and violence.”
This Law uses the following basic concepts:
sexual violence is a form of violence against women that infringes on sexual integrity and sexual freedom by committing acts of a sexual nature, without their consent, as well as coercion to engage in sexual intercourse with a third person through the use of violence or the threat of its use or committing indecent acts against female minors;
physical violence is a form of violence against women that encroaches on their life, health, freedom and other rights and freedoms protected by law by causing bodily harm of varying degrees of severity, leaving them in danger, failing to provide assistance to a person in a life-threatening situation, or committing other offenses violent nature, use or threat of use of other measures of physical coercion;
violence - an unlawful action (inaction) against women, encroaching on their life, health, sexual integrity, honor, dignity and other rights and freedoms protected by law through the use or threat of use of measures of physical, psychological, sexual or economic pressure;
economic violence is a form of violence carried out in everyday life, in the workplace and in other places, an action (inaction) against women that causes a restriction of their right to provision of food, housing and other conditions necessary for normal existence and development, a restriction in the exercise of the right to property, education and labor;
workplace - a place directly or indirectly controlled by the employer, where a woman must be or where she must go to perform work duties in accordance with a contract concluded with her or to perform official duties;
psychological violence is a form of violence expressed in insulting women, slander, threats, humiliation of honor, dignity, discrimination, as well as other actions aimed at limiting their expression of will, including control in the reproductive sphere, action (inaction) that caused harassment and violence in the victim fears for one's safety resulting in an inability to protect oneself or harming one's mental health;
harassment - an action (inaction) that degrades the honor and dignity of women, harassment, for the commission of which there is no administrative or criminal liability;
victim of oppression and violence - a female person who is under threat of harassment and violence against her or has suffered as a result of oppression and violence;
protection from oppression and violence - a system of urgent measures of an economic, social, legal, organizational, psychological and other nature in order to eliminate the danger that has arisen to the life and health of women, ensure their safety in the event of life circumstances requiring urgent measures, as well as to prevent repeated illegal acts actions on the part of a person who oppresses and commits violence against the victim of oppression and violence;
prevention of oppression and violence - a system of economic, social, legal, medical and other measures aimed at identifying and eliminating the causes and conditions conducive to oppression and violence against women, raising awareness in society about the rights of women to be free from violence;
protection order - a document providing state protection to a victim of oppression and violence, entailing the application of measures of influence determined by this Law to a person or group of persons who oppress women or commit violence against them.
