On January 14, our country celebrates the Day of Defender of the Motherland - people defending the sovereignty, territorial integrity, peaceful life and safety of the population of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the Day of Formation of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The date of the holiday is associated with the following most important events in the history of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan: On August 31, 1991, the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the foundations of state independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was adopted. The statement “On state independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan” proclaimed on this day served as the legal basis for the creation of our national armed forces. The first foundation is considered to be the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 6, 1991 “On the establishment of the Ministry of Defense Affairs.”
On July 3, 1992, in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ministry of Defense Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan was transformed into the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The resolution of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 14, 1992 “On military units and military educational institutions located on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan” is of important historical significance. According to this resolution, military formations on the territory of our state were transferred to republican subordination. On December 29, 1993, by a resolution of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan, it was established that from now on “January 14 is the Day of Defender of the Motherland.” This holiday was perceived as a holiday not only for military personnel, but also for our compatriots who served their duty in the army, and thousands of young people who will go to serve tomorrow. On the occasion of this holiday, ceremonial events are held annually; our Motherland has always been proud of its brave and courageous children. Our youth considers it their duty to always be ready to defend the Motherland, considering their parents and family, the land where they live, sacred.
