Explanatory work was carried out at the SEMS of Navoi region on the role and importance of information and communication technologies in conducting the population census

Census activities in the Republic of Uzbekistan are conducted in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated September 19, 2025 No. UP-173 and the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated October 7, 2025 No. 629. The census is planned to be conducted from January 15 to February 28, 2026.

This event is important for determining the priority directions of the country's socio-economic development. The main objectives include:

- obtaining reliable information on demographic and socio-economic characteristics, the standard of living and employment of the population;

- creation of an accurate database on available resources in the field of agriculture, land plots, types of agricultural crops, livestock numbers, and other indicators;

- creation of a scientifically based base for the development of future state policy, social programs, and investment projects;

- providing international organizations (World Bank, UN Population Fund, and others) with data in accordance with international standards.

The census process will last 45 days and will be conducted in two stages.

During the first 17 days (from January 15 to 31), the census of the population and agricultural facilities will be conducted via the Internet, that is, respondents will be able to take the census online on the census.stat.uz portal at their own request. This method will allow citizens to provide information at their convenient time and place without waiting for a census taker.

People and households who did not register online will be censured from February 4 to 28 during a door-to-door survey with the participation of the "mahalla seven."

Personal information entered into the registration forms is strictly confidential and will not be disclosed without the consent of the respondent. The collected data will be anonymized and used only to obtain aggregated statistical indicators.

The active participation of the population in this process is extremely important.

In this regard, on January 6 of this year, at the SEMS of Navoi region, service engineer A.Narziev organized a training seminar on the topic "The role and importance of information and communication technologies in conducting the population census. Processes of preparation for the mass event."

During the seminar, service employees were provided with detailed information on the procedure for registering themselves and their family members on the census.stat.uz portal, logging into the system using OneID or PINFL, which ensures data accuracy and protection.

Information was presented that:

- In December 2025, in order to use modern technologies in data collection, international organizations (for example, IOM) transferred additional tablets to the National Statistics Committee;

- the census.stat.uz portal for online population census was launched;

- The event will be attended by "mahalla seven" system employees and census takers who are undergoing special training programs, and work on this process has begun from December 15, 2025.

- large-scale promotional work is being carried out in the mass media and social networks to explain the importance of the event for the population.

Employees were informed that in case of technical issues during the online census, they can receive assistance according to the special instructions created by the National Statistics Committee or by calling the short number 1851.

It was noted that these measures will serve to create a database that accurately reflects the country's demographic and agricultural potential as of 00:00 on January 15, 2026.

During the seminar, participants received answers to all their questions regarding the population and agriculture census.
