Development of digital radio broadcasting in the Republic of Uzbekistan

The Republic of Uzbekistan was one of the first countries in Central Asia to launch DAB+ radio broadcasting. 

On July 17, 2017, Resolution No. 502 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On further measures for the transition to digital television broadcasting and the termination of terrestrial analog television broadcasting” was adopted, according to which terrestrial analog television broadcasting in Tashkent was switched off on July 15, 2018 and throughout Uzbekistan from December 5, 2018. It was advisable to allocate a radio frequency band in the range of 

174-230 MHz for the digital DAB+ radio broadcasting standard after switching off analog television in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In accordance with the decision of the Republican Council on Radio Frequencies No. 687 dated February 25, 2022, test use of the DAB+ standard in the radio frequency range of 

207.296-208.832 MHz in the city of Tashkent is permitted;

In accordance with the decision of the Republican Council on Radio Frequencies No. 704 dated August 12, 2022, test use of the DAB+ standard in the radio frequency range of 

207.296-208.832 MHz in the RTS Chapan-Ata is permitted;

In December 2021, the first digital radio broadcasting transmitter of the DAB+ standard was launched in test mode. The digital radio broadcasting transmitter broadcasts 16 radio programs: Uzbekistan, Yoshlar, Mahalla, Uzbekistan 24, Oriat Dono, Oriat FM, Vodiy Sadosi, Poytakht (Uzbek), Poytakht (Russian), Grand, Yoshlar Ovozi, Maxima, Avtoradio Hamrokh, Navruz, Nostalgia, Uzbegim Taronasi. Based on the results of the test operation of the digital radio broadcasting transmitter, it is planned to introduce the DAB+ standard throughout the Republic of Uzbekistan.
